These terms govern your use of TokenBrake (the "Service"), software published by Akkad Empires ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, purchasing, or using TokenBrake, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
TokenBrake is a self-hosted tool that meters and can limit spending on third-party AI APIs (such as OpenAI and Anthropic) by acting as a proxy that you run on your own infrastructure. It reports usage and, when configured, can stop requests once a budget is reached.
TokenBrake reduces the risk of unexpected AI bills. It does not guarantee that a bill will never exceed a budget. By design, if TokenBrake cannot accurately price a request, encounters an internal error, or is bypassed, it may allow requests to proceed ("fail open") so that it never silently breaks your systems. Pricing is estimated from provider-published rates and may lag or differ from your actual invoice.
You remain solely responsible for your API usage, your provider accounts, your spending, and any charges you incur. You should continue to set limits and monitor spending directly with your AI providers.
Paid plans are sold as annual licenses and paid in USDC on the Base network. A valid license key is issued after your payment is confirmed on-chain. Because payment is on a public blockchain, the transaction is final; all sales are final and non-refundable except where required by law. Enforcement of plan limits and expiry is intentionally soft — an expired or over-plan license will not stop your traffic, it will only prompt you to renew or upgrade.
You agree not to use TokenBrake to break the law, to violate the terms of any AI provider you connect it to, to resell or redistribute the Service as your own, or to attempt to forge, tamper with, or circumvent license verification. You are responsible for keeping your own API keys and license key secure.
TokenBrake runs on your infrastructure. It is built so that your API keys and prompt content pass through to your provider and are not stored by us. Usage figures live on your server. See our Privacy Policy for what limited information the purchase process handles.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of cost estimates, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will prevent any particular charge.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Akkad Empires be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any AI-provider charges, lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Service — even if advised of the possibility. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Akkad Empires from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your API usage, or your violation of these terms or of any third-party provider's terms.
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
